Many pool owners wait until late May or warm summer weather arrives before opening their pool . However, at R&R Pools, we strongly recommend opening your pool early—ideally late April or early May, as soon as the winter ice melts off the cover.

• Partial water pump-off, careful removal, cleaning, and storage of one winter cover (selection subject to additional charges).
• Cleaning, rolling, and storing water bags (where applicable).
• Reinstalling pool deck accessories, including ladders, handrails, steps, and diving boards.
• Reassembling circulation and filtration equipment.
• Moving solar blanket and roller system back into place.
• Reinstalling underwater pool lights.
• System start-up (provided water levels are high enough).
• Application of our specialized Opening Chemical Kit (included in package price; applied IF system can be started).

• O-Ring inspection and silicone lubrication to prevent system suction leaks.

2. “The Works” Swimming Pool Opening Package

Includes everything in the Regular Package, plus enhanced cleaning and a follow-up sanitization boost:

• 45 Minutes of Additional Cleaning: To take place 3 to 7 days after the initial opening visit. The technician will brush and scoop/skim to handle post-winter sediment. The technician may vacuum only if time and conditions allow.
• Follow-Up Shock Treatment:  Our technicians will add a secondary shock dose (shock product included) if the chlorine is low and the pool is not clear.

3. “The Works Plus” Swimming Pool Opening Package

Our most comprehensive service package for pool owners who want a completely turnkey start to the season:

• Includes everything in “The Works” Package .
• Professional Water Chemistry Balancing: Our technicians balance key chemical parameters—adjusting pH, Total Alkalinity, and Calcium Hardness to ideal operating levels.
• Note: Water balancing utilizes premium BioGuard® water care products sold by R&R Pools (balancing chemicals billed separately; salt addition extra). This package focuses on chemical parameter balancing and does not cover pre-existing water clarity issues or severe metal staining.

Helpful Preparation Guidelines for Pool Owners

To ensure our service technicians can complete your pool opening smoothly during their visit, please keep the following tips in mind:

1. Pre-Pump Winter Cover (Recommended): We no longer offer full cover pump-off services. We strongly recommend pumping excess meltwater and organic debris off your winter cover prior to our arrival.
2. Water Level Requirements: Above-ground and inground pool systems cannot be safely started nor opening kits added until water reaches the middle of the skimmer opening. If water levels are low upon our arrival, the homeowner will simply top up the pool, start the system, and add the provided chemical kit after our visit.
3. Access & Power: Please ensure outdoor electrical outlets are live, water spigots are turned on, gate locks are opened, and all accessories (plugs, caps, return eyeballs, baskets, ladders/handrails/steps) are set out for the technicians. If any equipment was brought inside over the winter (above ground pumps, above ground salt cells, ionizers, etc.) please have those placed pool-side for the technicians.

Important Service Notes & Additional Items

• Specialty Features: Pools containing excess leaf debris, leaf nets, secondary safety covers, spillover spas, swim jets, water features, or dual filtration systems require extra labor and may incur additional charges.
• On-Site Repairs: Any mechanical issues discovered during opening (such as pipe leaks, broken valves, or automatic cover motor failures) beyond a quick fix will require a separate service booking.
• Return Visits: Follow-up calls for missing opening hardware, customer-supplied chemical delays, or equipment repairs are billed at standard service call rates.
