Swimming Pool Cleaning Services

FAQs

Which pool cleaning service is right for me?

It depends on how much help you want and what is happening with your pool.

Weekly Pool Cleaning is best if you want us to take care of the regular cleaning and water care throughout the season.

Pool Sitting is ideal when you are away and need someone to check on and maintain the pool while you are gone.

On-Site Monthly Water Testing is a good fit if you are comfortable doing your weekly maintenance but want a professional to handle the more detailed monthly water balance.

One-Time Pool Clean-Up is designed for pools that need extra help because of algae, neglect, a move-in, vandalism or another larger clean-up.

Portable Pool Cleaning Equipment Rental can provide additional filtration and circulation to help get a green or cloudy pool back under control faster.

Robotic Cleaner Consultation helps you choose the right robotic pool cleaner if you would rather automate more of your routine cleaning.

Why hire a professional pool cleaning service?

Keeping a pool looking good involves more than just vacuuming. Cleaning, circulation, filtration and water balance all work together. Professional help can take some — or all — of that work off your plate and can also help catch small issues before they turn into bigger ones.

Whether you want regular weekly help or just need us once in a while, our pool cleaning services offer different levels of support depending on how hands-on you want to be.

What is included in your weekly pool cleaning service?

Our maintenance program is designed for homeowners who want to spend less time working on their pool and more time enjoying it. Regular service can include vacuuming, brushing, skimming and scooping, cleaning the waterline, emptying baskets, backwashing the filter or rinsing cartridges, testing and balancing the water, and adding weekly maintenance chemicals as required. Monthly water balancing is also taken care of, so weekly cleaning customers do not need to bring in a separate monthly water sample.

Can you look after my pool while I am away on vacation?

Yes. Our Pool Sitting service is designed specifically for this. We can check the pool while you are away, monitor for problems, empty baskets, check the water level and sanitizer, and take care of required weekly chemical additions so you are not relying on a neighbour or family member to figure it out.

I take care of my own pool. Can you just handle the more complicated water balancing?

Yes. Our On-Site Monthly Water Testing service is a partial hands-off option. We come to your home, professionally test the pool water and complete the monthly balancing using BioGuard water treatment products. You continue with your normal weekly testing and maintenance, including sanitizer, oxidizer, algaecide and pH adjustments as required.

My pool is green or cloudy. Can you help get it clear again?

Absolutely. Green or cloudy water can happen for a few different reasons, so the fix isn’t always the same.

Sometimes the pool needs chemical treatment, but filtration and circulation are just as important. For pools that need additional filtration, our Portable Pool Cleaning Equipment Rental can work alongside your existing system and proper water chemistry to help reduce the amount of time it takes to clear the water.

For larger algae blooms, neglected pools or situations requiring more hands-on work, our One-Time Pool Clean-Up may be the better option.

How quickly can a green or cloudy pool be cleared?

How long it takes will depend on how far gone the water is, your filtration system and how quickly the pool responds to treatment. The condition of the water, your existing equipment, filtration, chemistry and the amount of homeowner support can all affect the result.

When our portable filtration system is appropriate, we typically see a noticeable transformation within approximately 3–4 days. We will also provide instructions for any work that should be completed between visits to help the pool recover as quickly as possible.

Can I book just one pool cleaning instead of signing up for weekly service?

Yes. Our One-Time Pool Clean-Up is available for situations where the pool needs extra attention but you do not necessarily need ongoing weekly cleaning. This can include large algae blooms, a pool that has been neglected, problems getting the water clear, clean-up after vandalism, or getting a pool under control after moving into a new home.

Do you supply the pool chemicals during cleaning and water-care services?

Some do. Water testing and balancing are part of our weekly pool cleaning service, while our On-Site Monthly Water Testing service is designed specifically for homeowners who handle their regular weekly maintenance but want professional help with the more detailed water balance.

What is included and how chemicals are charged varies by service, so check the individual service page for full details.

Can you help me choose a robotic pool cleaner instead of having my pool professionally cleaned every week?

Yes. If you’re tired of manually vacuuming the pool, a robotic cleaner may be a better fit.

Our Robotic Cleaner Consultation can help you determine which cleaner makes the most sense for your pool.

We consider your pool's size and shape, how your family uses the pool, the features you need, warranties and available manufacturer programs before making a recommendation. If you are still unsure, you may also be able to join our Try B4 U Buy wait list and borrow a unit for up to 72 hours with no obligation to purchase.

What areas do you provide pool cleaning services in?

Our pool cleaning services are currently available throughout Halifax to Lunenburg, Tantallon, Hammonds Plains, Bedford, Sackville, Fall River, Dartmouth and surrounding areas.

If you are unsure whether your home falls within the service area for the service you need, contact us and our team can confirm availability.

How do I get started?

Not sure where to start? Choose the pool cleaning service that sounds closest to what’s going on with your pool and fill out the request form. If we think another service would suit you better, we can point you in the right direction.

The more information you can provide about your pool, equipment and current water condition, the better prepared our team can be.

If your pool is green, cloudy, neglected or requires a larger clean-up, photos are especially helpful and can allow us to better understand the situation before arriving.
