Secure the Pool Area

This is especially important during colder months when children and pets may still be curious, even though the pool isn’t open. A locked, self-closing gate remains one of the best safety tools you can have year-round.
If you use a winter pool cover, make sure it’s designed for safety—not just debris control. A strong, tensioned safety cover is built to support weight and prevent accidental falls. Inspect the straps, springs, and anchors regularly to ensure everything remains tight and secure. Snow, rain, and wind can shift or weaken a cover if left unchecked.
Remove Temptation and Hazards
Winter brings slippery surfaces, ice buildup, and unpredictable weather. Clear leaves, branches, and ice from around the pool area to keep the space safe and easy to navigate. Walkways should remain clutter-free—even if you’re only passing through occasionally.

Educate the Family About Winter Rules
